"Today is October 27th 2021... Arthur Gustav was my beloved Grandpa He wrote to me and spoke Swedish as I was growing up here in the US and France in the 50's My Daddy, Dale Arthur Peterson was his only son, born in Arnold. Grandpa also fathered a baby girl named Veneta, she was my namesake. I have only one large beautiful paonting of the Peterson's entire family standing proudly in front of Art's Father, Alfred Gustav and his beloved wife Josephine...who imigrated from Goteborgs Sweden. The painting depicts all of the Peterson's standing with their horses and large hay wagon. Grandpa Art was a Wheat farmer and broke Horses and Bulls for his boss there and in Cozad. Art and my Dad Dale built the Stone Wall which grew longer and longer all the way to Dunning. Grandpa and I visited the tiny wood floored Dry Goods Store in Dunning. Art had two sisters, named Aunt Ruth and Beulah..they too passed from their homes there near Arnold. Arnold was a small close knit community and most probably still is. I asked the Township to allow me to stay there with them but, Alas they would not let me because I was considered an outsider. While my Daddy "Pete" was still there helping grandpa & I, we frequented "Sue's Grill to eat Steaks, share stories and drink what is called "Boiler Makers". My Dad Dale and I went from Texas all the way to Arnold. My Dad had to return to Houston and asked me to stay with my Grandpa as he became ill day by day. I stayed to the very end of his short, proud to be an American Life. I recently received Maps and history tales from Goteborgs by mail all the way from Sweden. I am '71 years young today and plan to get to see my relatives still living in our beautiful Sweden." - Veneta Peterson
