Stories & Condolences

"O.B. Sylvia Cambell Pearce Sylvia Elandor Cambell was born November 11, 1874, at Seymour, Iowa. On October 22, 1891, she was united in marriage to Charles B. Pearce at Arnold, NE. To this union were born four children, Vera, of Denver, CO., Cecil M., Gladys, and Nolan, all of Arnold, all of whom survive their mother and were with her at the end. Mrs. Pearce united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Arnold on September 3, 1893, and has been a true and faithful member, giving unsparingly of her time and effort to all things that were a benefit to the Church and its members. She was a member of the Arnold Women Improvement Club. Having served most successfully as the president for the past two years and being at the time of her death, chairman of the child welfare Department. She has been one of the principal members who made the club such a success and benefit to the town and community. She was also a member of the Loyal Mystic Legion. Mrs. Pearce had been feeling ill for several months but her cheerful and sunny disposition led her many friends to believe it was nothing serious and it was with a distinct shock that the community learned a few days ago that her condition was such that she had been taken for hospital treatment. All through medical skill and employed unstintingly, she failed to recover and on the evening of August 25 1923, Mrs. Pearce was called to her reward at the age of 48 yrs. She leaves behind to miss her, a kind and faith-full husband, her four children, her mother Mrs. Miriam Cambell, one sister, Mrs. Carie a. Vanhorn of Nemo, SD. And Three brothers, Charles Leach, of Santa Anna CA., John Leach, of Lantry, SD. And Leo Cambell of Arnold. Besides relatives, she leaves a host of friends and neighbors, and her loss will be keenly felt by her church and her club. We are unable to express our heart felt appreciation to our relatives and friends, who so willingly and tenderly extended their help and sympathy during the recent illness and death of our beloved wife and mother. Neither can we express our deepest appreciation for the constant watchfulness and tireless efforts of the doctors and nurses, to the very last. C.B. Pearce, Vera Pearce, Cecil M. Pearce, Gladys Pearce, Nolan Pearce." - Norvin Pearce
